CURIOUS GEORGE DOCUMENTARY

Visual Effects and Titles

It was a blast to work with Ema Ryan Yamazaki on her documentary film “Monkey Business: The Adventures of Curious George's Creators.” Narrated by Sam Waterston, the film explores the extraordinary lives of Hans and Margret Rey, the authors of the beloved “Curious George” children's books. Hats off to Jacob Kafka for the incredible animation.

I worked with the archival material to create period-specific framing for every photo and document. It was a massive arts & crafts project, using antique photo albums to create an aesthetic matching the 100+ years covered in the film. You can see a clip of the film below along with followed by a few examples of archival framing. In addition, you can see how long a film scroll is when laid out in one piece!
